"I too, am tired of the "all chat" channel gibberish and have taken to turning it off most of the time. These days, I usually find my parties through my guild or supplemented with heroes and henchmen."

I do this as well, I wonder how many of the trolls here and in game are as tough in person as they act online. I find if you bark them down in game they run out cursing and/or stop bothering people.

Again I miss dueling in SWG. Even if they declined you could embarass the .... out of them and cause them to either logout or go elsewhere. *sigh* It was a trip to show up with the guild I belonged to (in it's heyday there was over 175 members). no words were needed, just seeing all the same guild logos had the desired effect lol

The best trick was when they would get mad (trolls) and challenge me, I'd ignore them and let them challenge someone else. They would forget all I had to do was accept and attack them. I'd watch them for an opening and throw my light saber knocking them down and snaring them. Then let their opponent nail them. LOL

I don't think the community was rude as when GW first released.

I think people in general are rude. There will always be spamtastic douchebags cluttering the channel, but there are also polite and decent people too, unfortunately we never hear from those guys because they either hench it, or planned their party ahead of time with friends or guildies.

I'm polite and rude...
Polite when I'm talking with normal, average player... I don't really care if he's a newbie, I can explain...
But I'm rude when I see retards spamming chat (oh, but I forgot- Kaineng, Kamadan and LA dis 1 are trade dis xD), and most of all- noobish leavers in RA... oh how I hate them, how I wish they die in the most painful ways... There's no even words in this language to express what do I feel for them...

I just want teleport- so I can teleport to spamer/leaver house and start beating him up, kill and go back playing GW
The crazy thing is- if I killed a spamer/leaver I would be a criminal- some world we're leaving in, huh?

Funnily enough - that's the exact same reason why I use it.
Anet screwed up on aution houses and LFG systems for 3 chapters.
Too little too late....

^ lol.

Here's a crazy idea: Anyone who uses the WTB or WTS
(or even those silly \/\/TS variance...) should automaticaly have their character become hostile to everyone in town. And EVERYONE in town should be able to use their skills and weapons on this guy. See if he can defeat an entire town of angry and annoyed people.

A little more legal and less teleportation than previous idea... :/

There is one solution that would alleviate spam and "persuade" sellers/buyers to use the Search function.

Remove the posting buffer (no more Enter up-arrow Enter) and disallow copy-paste.

They'd have to type everything all over again and that would at least slow them down. Once they figure they have to work to sell/buy their stuff they just might use the Search function for trading instead of spamming the general chat window.

I don't think this would be too difficult to implement either, could be just a simple code too.

This is not true at all. People use chat every day all day for finding groups. We need to keep it real, whats the point of exagerated posts that are completely false?

I tend to think that GW one of the (possibly The) worst community in term on MMOs. (Not counting games that demends less commitment than MMOs)

When you think about it every jerk in the Americas (ok maybe just north america, i doubt south Am has a large community) is concentrated on an unique server, and further more concentrated in the Holy Trinity of The Hub (aka La, KC, Kamadan(just noticed there is no shortcut, that i know of, to say kamadan)) where every player transit.

Side note : I may be completely wrong.

Well Nightfall killed PUGs, and then they added a system to find nonexistant ones. I see it used in low-level areas sometimes, but for the most part people just solo because they have no patience with groups and like Heroes better, or there just aren't any groups to find. And old habits die hard... it was a nice idea, but a year or two late.

The community in Guild Wars isn't awesome (to agree with some earlier posters), but there are some pretty cool people who play. I'd say Guild Wars has just as many morons as any other MMO.

Agreed, it's brilliant
I'd left possibility to enter-up and copy-paste in guild chat and alliance chat- cause not always it has to be spam and moreover- alliance/guild can kick spammer out

Hyper linking of item information in the trade and private whisper chat lines would go a long way as well.

Have an active cursor in the trade or whisper box, shift-click the item, the link is pasted into chat, now a tool tip can be read by the reader so they can see the item's true information.

Firstly, this cuts down the sheer amount of crap that has to be typed about an item. Example: WTS Big Purple Tube of Flesh 50%^66 10%>99 100 x 1 3/2 Req. 10000 gold <---not the best way to sell something.

Second, it makes the use of any other chat channel entirely inferior to trade or private tells. Think about, you have to go actually open trade with someone to even see the item which is ridiculous.

If we aren't getting an auction house, at least give us hyper linkable item info for trade and whisper chat.

I do use it now, but it took me a while to find out there was something like that ^^
i think it is because spamming 'SS NUKER LFG UW' is easyer and works too.

also, i find the arrow up thing very annoying, it'd be alot easyer if i could just walk+chat at the same time.

I hate to be a jerk, but the people bashing Anet are probably right in this case. Release a game, wait almost 2 years to implement party search, and then wonder why people keep using local? Not so BRILLIANT. I don't use party search, because I never even THINK about it, having found thousands of groups via Local spam. Implement party search when GW2 is released and maybe the situation will improve there, but I, personally, see no hope for party search in Guild Wars.

All we need is a vendor to place items for sale on, SWG has them and they work quite well.
